About Deraps

Deraps is a Classic Rock-inspired band featuring Jacob Deraps on lead vocals and guitars, and Josh Gallagher on drums and co-lead vocals. Jacob hails from St-Georges de Beauce, Québec, Canada (born March 15, 1997), while Josh comes from Perth, Australia (born October 28, 1995). The two connected online through their Van Halen covers on YouTube, which sparked collaboration and eventually led to touring together in Québec.

After years of working together, Deraps released their self-titled debut album on June 22, 2022. In 2023, they embarked on their first major tour, playing some of Canada’s biggest venues and festivals and opening for iconic acts like Foreigner, Loverboy, Ann Wilson, Tom Cochrane, and Lee Aaron. The band also completed their first UK and Europe mini-tour that year.

On May 23, 2025, Deraps dropped their follow-up album, which debuted at #1 in the Hard Rock & Metal category on Amazon Japan during its first week. The album garnered strong global reviews, including a 7/10 rating from Classic Rock Magazine, one of the world’s leading rock publications.

Deraps is currently signed to Metalville Records and has a publishing deal with Anthem Entertainment, further cementing their place in the modern rock scene.

Deraps will kick off their Canadian tour in January, followed by their first-ever US tour — continuing their rapid rise on the international rock scene.

''Their 11-song, self-titled debut album is released worldwide today! And as you might expect, it's got a vibe and sound that channels early Van Halen and fits right into your '70s and'80s good-time rock n roll playlists...We at Van Halen News Desk are happy to spread the word about their new album, and VanHalenStore.com is even selling their album for a limited time! ... we're happy to support them upon the release of this great album.''

''Are Deraps to Van Halen what Greta Van Fleet are to Led Zep? Quite Possibly. With such spot-on delivery, killer riffs and moreish choruses it's ferociously good fun. But Deraps isn't just a VH fest. The blues rock of Stevie Ray Vaughan can be heard in Live Fast, Die Slow, while funky bass lines, pop gloss and Metallica-come-GN'R beef pepper the rest of the record.''

''This is the debut release from a young three-piece band based in Quebec, Canada... their musicality reminds us of Van Halen...simple sound but vital and pleasing.... One listen and you will be tempted to see them on stage. 88/100.''

"What goes around, comes around. It’s true in fashion, even when it shouldn’t be.  It’s true in home decor.  Things you thought might never make a comeback, have, and they actually look good.  The reality, classic styling is always in fashion.  It is so true in rock n’ roll.  That sound of a bygone era, the one that might make you sentimental about your youth.  Or perhaps it is that undeniable, and quite inexplicable sound that is not contemporary, but really speaks to your soul.  Whatever the catalyst, the classics never go out of style.  Sometime they just have to be dusted off and repackaged to fit the current sensibilities.  This would be very true for an emerging band called Deraps."

"If you haven’t already done so, make sure you check out one of the best debut albums that has come out in the last decade."

''The first time I saw a video of Jacob Deraps my jaw dropped! He is one of the most natural players I have seen in a long time. He makes some of the most complex solos look effortless! I see Jacob as being one of the best young players out there that will for sure be around for a very long time.''
